From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +70.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest boron oxide and boric acid supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Russia ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 75% of total exports. Latvia, Belgium and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.
Among the main exporting countries, Latvia, with a CAGR of +66.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe
In 2021, approx. X tons of oxides of boron and boric acids were imported in Europe; with an increase of 14% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 23%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
