In 2021, respiration apparatus exports in Europe soared to X tons, growing by 65% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, exports saw resilient growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, respiration apparatus exports declined remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 101% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands represented the main exporter of ozone therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiration apparatus in Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 54% of total exports in 2021. Germany (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the UK (X tons) and Italy (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 25% share of total exports. The Czech Republic (X tons), Ireland (X tons), France (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ozone therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiration apparatus exports, with a CAGR of +29.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the UK (+18.5%), Ireland (+15.9%), France (+7.3%), the Czech Republic (+7.2%), Italy (+6.8%) and Switzerland (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. The Netherlands (+39 p.p.) and the UK (+3.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while France, the Czech Republic, Italy and Germany saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -2.4%, -3.4% and -21.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest respiration apparatus supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Ireland ($X), together comprising 60% of total exports.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +15.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -51% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 34%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+6.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Respiration Apparatus Imports
Imports in Europe
In 2021, purchases abroad of ozone therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiration apparatus decreased by -42.3% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 276%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, respiration apparatus imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 144% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands was the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which resulted at 38% of total imports. Germany (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the UK (X tons), Ireland (X tons), Russia (X tons) and France (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 36% share of total imports. Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons), Luxembourg (X tons), Poland (X tons), Serbia (X tons), Switzerland (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +31.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Luxembourg (+78.1%), Serbia (+49.9%), Ukraine (+21.5%), Ireland (+17.5%), Poland (+12.2%), Spain (+5.0%), Italy (+5.0%), Germany (+4.6%), Switzerland (+4.2%) and France (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Luxembourg emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +78.1% from 2012-2021. Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the UK (-1.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+31 p.p.), Ireland (+2.8 p.p.), Luxembourg (+2.6 p.p.) and Serbia (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Russia and the UK saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -1.8%, -5.6%, -6.3%, -8.3% and -11.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest respiration apparatus importing markets in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports. Russia, the UK, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Ukraine, Poland, Ireland, Serbia and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
Serbia, with a CAGR of +44.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 1.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 9.6% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
