The Europe particle accelerator market reduced notably to $X in 2021, dropping by -29.7% against the previous year. In general, consumption saw a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, particle accelerator production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 5.5%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Europe
In 2021, exports of particle accelerators in Europe soared to X units, rising by 127% compared with the year before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, particle accelerator exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X units) represented the main exporter of particle accelerators, comprising 47% of total exports. Sweden (X units) held a 24% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (17%). The Netherlands (X units) and the UK (X units) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Belgium (with a CAGR of +57.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the largest particle accelerator supplier in Europe, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sweden ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Belgium totaled +31.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sweden (-4.4% per year) and France (+6.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -26.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 69%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+5.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe
In 2021, purchases abroad of particle accelerators was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight decrease. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, particle accelerator imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Romania (X units), distantly followed by the UK (X units), Poland (X units), Sweden (X units), Italy (X units), France (X units), Germany (X units) and Greece (X units) were the largest importers of particle accelerators, together making up 80% of total imports. The following importers - Austria (X units), Latvia (X units), Russia (X units), Hungary (X units) and Switzerland (X units) - together made up 13% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +83.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest particle accelerator importing markets in Europe were the UK ($X), Sweden ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for 39% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania, France, Latvia, Greece, Switzerland and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 41%.
Among the main importing countries, Austria, with a CAGR of +75.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -19.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, particle accelerator import price increased by +10.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+16.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
