Peach And Nectarine Market Size in Europe

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, peach and nectarine exports rose markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Spain represented the main exporter of peaches and nectarines in Europe, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 68% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Italy (X tons) and Greece (X tons), together committing a 17% share of total exports. France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of peaches and nectarines. At the same time, Serbia (+5.6%) and the Netherlands (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Serbia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +5.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, France (-6.6%), Greece (-9.6%) and Italy (-13.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Spain increased by +22 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Spain ($X) remains the largest peach and nectarine supplier in Europe, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Greece, with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Spain amounted to +3.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (-8.6% per year) and Greece (-8.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 19% against the previous year. Export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, peach and nectarine export price increased by +87.3% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of peaches and nectarines imported in Europe fell to X tons, dropping by -7% on 2020 figures. In general, imports showed a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 14%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, peach and nectarine imports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 35% of total imports in 2021. It was followed by France (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons) and the UK (X tons), together comprising a 30% share of total imports. The Netherlands (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Romania (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Switzerland (X tons) and Austria (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

In value terms, the largest peach and nectarine importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), Russia ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 47% share of total imports. Italy, the UK, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Romania, Portugal, Austria and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +11.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 12% against the previous year. Import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, peach and nectarine import price increased by +64.5% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 33%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
