Spain represented the main exporter of peaches and nectarines in Europe, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 68% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Italy (X tons) and Greece (X tons), together committing a 17% share of total exports. France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of peaches and nectarines. At the same time, Serbia (+5.6%) and the Netherlands (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Serbia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +5.6% from 2012-2021. Italy, the UK, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Romania, Portugal, Austria and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +11.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 12% against the previous year. Import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, peach and nectarine import price increased by +64.5% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 33%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+12.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
