In value terms, Germany ($X), Russia ($X) and Austria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 35% of total imports. Belgium, Poland, France, the UK, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.
Slovakia, with a CAGR of +23.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced reduction. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+10.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
