Market Size for Plastic Doors, Windows And Their Frames in Europe

After two years of growth, the Europe plastic doors and windows market decreased by -6.9% to $X in 2022. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the market value increased by 8.6%. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Production of Plastic Doors, Windows And Their Frames in Europe

In value terms, plastic doors and windows production contracted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 9.7%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Poland was the main exporter of plastic doors, windows and their frames in Europe, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was near 51% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Romania (X units) and Germany (X units), together mixing up an 18% share of total exports. Slovakia (X units), the UK (X units), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units), Austria (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Lithuania (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +9.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bosnia and Herzegovina (+15.1%), Romania (+14.1%), Lithuania (+9.8%), the UK (+6.8%), the Netherlands (+4.5%), Austria (+4.1%) and Slovakia (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bosnia and Herzegovina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +15.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Germany (-2.1%) and the Czech Republic (-3.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+13 p.p.), Romania (+5.8 p.p.) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -3.7% and -8.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest plastic doors and windows supplier in Europe, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with an 8.9% share.

In Poland, plastic doors and windows exports increased at an average annual rate of +13.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Romania (+17.3% per year) and Germany (-2.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 7.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 12% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while the UK ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Plastic Doors, Windows And Their Frames

Imports in Europe

In value terms, plastic doors and windows imports contracted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.4% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, the largest plastic doors and windows importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), Switzerland ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 39% share of total imports. Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, the UK, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Lithuania and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +15.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+8.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
