In value terms, plastics pipe and pipe fitting exports fell slightly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 19%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell modestly in the following year.

In 2022, Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the key exporters of plastics pipes and pipe fittings in Europe, together generating 36% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons), together comprising a 22% share of total exports. Austria (X tons), Serbia (X tons), the UK (X tons), Russia (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest plastics pipe and pipe fitting supplier in Europe, comprising 26% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with an 8.4% share.
In Germany, plastics pipe and pipe fitting exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+4.3% per year) and Poland (+4.5% per year).

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 2.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of plastics pipes and pipe fittings, when their volume decreased by -5.3% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped in the following year.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +7.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 33% of total imports. The UK, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Austria, Spain, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Romania and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +9.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 5.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 9.9%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
