The total production indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -1.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Europe
In 2022, approx. X tons of porcelain ceramic wares for laboratory, technical, and chemical use were exported in Europe; falling by -4.7% on 2021. Total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +21.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, porcelain technical ware exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 20%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Austria was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 70% of total exports. It was distantly followed by France (X tons), creating a 15% share of total exports. The following exporters - Germany (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Russia (X tons) - together made up 10% of total exports.
Exports from Austria increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Spain (+15.4%) and Russia (+10.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +15.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, France (-1.9%), Ukraine (-4.0%) and Germany (-18.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Austria and Spain increased by +41 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest porcelain technical ware supplying countries in Europe were Austria ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 74% of total exports. Spain, Russia and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 2.9%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +24.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -8.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+15.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, approx. X tons of porcelain ceramic wares for laboratory, technical, and chemical use were imported in Europe; picking up by 26% against 2021 figures. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, porcelain technical ware imports stood at $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 22%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Italy was the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for 38% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tons), France (X tons), Norway (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Spain (X tons), together creating a 40% share of total imports. Ukraine (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), the UK (X tons), Greece (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Italy increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ukraine (+24.4%), Spain (+7.4%), France (+5.8%), Norway (+5.0%) and Greece (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ukraine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +24.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Germany (-3.6%), the Czech Republic (-4.0%), Switzerland (-4.3%), the UK (-4.5%), the Netherlands (-6.4%) and Austria (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Italy (+18 p.p.), France (+3.8 p.p.), Ukraine (+3.2 p.p.), Norway (+2.5 p.p.) and Spain (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of the UK (-2 p.p.), the Netherlands (-3.3 p.p.), Germany (-6.3 p.p.) and Austria (-6.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest porcelain technical ware importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports. France, the UK, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Ukraine, Greece and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
Ukraine, with a CAGR of +21.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 23%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+15.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
