The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, prefabricated buildings exports amounted to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +38.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 36%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Estonia (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Poland (X units), Lithuania (X units), Belgium (X units), Italy (X units), Croatia (X units), Slovenia (X units), Sweden (X units) and Romania (X units) represented roughly 72% of total exports in 2022. Spain (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Croatia (with a CAGR of +20.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest prefabricated buildings supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Estonia ($X), together accounting for 29% of total exports. Italy, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Belgium, Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden, Spain and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 46%.
Croatia, with a CAGR of +20.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 4.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 8.9% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
For the third consecutive year, Europe recorded growth in purchases abroad of prefabricated buildings, which increased by 0.9% to X units in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, prefabricated buildings imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +81.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by France (X units), the UK (X units), Norway (X units), Sweden (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the main importers of prefabricated buildings, together achieving 58% of total imports. Switzerland (X units), Italy (X units), Austria (X units), Denmark (X units), Poland (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Russia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Germany increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Sweden (+22.3%), Denmark (+15.0%), the UK (+11.9%), the Netherlands (+10.6%), Poland (+7.3%), the Czech Republic (+6.7%) and Italy (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Sweden emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +22.3% from 2012-2022. France and Norway experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Austria (-1.5%), Switzerland (-5.2%) and Russia (-7.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Sweden (+6 p.p.), the UK (+4.3 p.p.), Germany (+3.4 p.p.), the Netherlands (+2.4 p.p.) and Denmark (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Austria, France, Norway, Russia and Switzerland saw its share reduced by -2.7%, -4.1%, -4.5%, -5.5% and -7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest prefabricated buildings importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and Norway ($X), with a combined 37% share of total imports. France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, Austria, Italy, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
Among the main importing countries, Sweden, with a CAGR of +21.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
