The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons) and Spain (X tons) represented roughly 72% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tons), achieving an 18% share of total exports. The following exporters - Belgium (X tons) and France (X tons) - together made up 6.5% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of -0.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest preserved asparagus supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Spain ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 90% share of total exports.

Spain, with a CAGR of +3.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 9.1% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Spain (X tons) was the largest importer of preserved asparagus, creating 38% of total imports. Germany (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Denmark (X tons). All these countries together held near 54% share of total imports. The following importers - Belgium (X tons) and Italy (X tons) - each resulted at a 3.8% share of total imports.

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
