Motor Vehicle Radiator Market Size in Europe

In 2022, the Europe motor vehicle radiator market increased by 9.1% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator production declined to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production saw a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Europe

Motor vehicle radiator exports shrank slightly to X units in 2022, waning by -2.2% against 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator exports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the three major exporters of radiators for motor vehicles, namely the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland, represented more than half of total export. Slovakia (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Spain (X units) and France (X units). All these countries together took approx. 21% share of total exports. Romania (X units), Sweden (X units), the UK (X units), Italy (X units), Denmark (X units), Hungary (X units) and Portugal (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +16.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest motor vehicle radiator supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for 52% of total exports. Slovakia, Spain, France, Italy, the UK, Romania, Sweden, Hungary, Denmark and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +9.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 6.2%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of radiators for motor vehicles, when their volume increased by 10% to X units. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Germany represented the main importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 27% of total imports. The Czech Republic (X units) took a 9.6% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Spain (7.9%), Poland (6.8%), the UK (6.5%), Russia (6.1%), Slovakia (5.2%) and France (4.8%). Italy (X units), Hungary (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Sweden (X units) and Denmark (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to motor vehicle radiator imports into Germany stood at +4.1%. At the same time, Hungary (+9.4%), the Czech Republic (+8.3%), Poland (+8.1%), Spain (+5.8%), the UK (+4.4%) and Italy (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +9.4% from 2012-2022. Denmark, Sweden, France, the Netherlands and Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Slovakia (-16.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Germany (+8.6 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+5.2 p.p.), Poland (+3.6 p.p.), Spain (+3.3 p.p.), the UK (+2.2 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Slovakia saw its share reduced by -26.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radiators for motor vehicles in Europe, comprising 28% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with an 8.4% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 6.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany totaled +3.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+9.2% per year) and the UK (+3.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, waning by -3.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 28%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in France ($X per unit) and Italy ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) and Denmark ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+30.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
