By contrast, Germany (-1.6%), Italy (-5.1%) and the Netherlands (-9.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belgium (+6.4 p.p.), Russia (+3.1 p.p.), Hungary (+2.2 p.p.) and Poland (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Italy and the Netherlands saw its share reduced by -2% and -3.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hungary ($X) remains the largest scouring pastes and powders supplier in Europe, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 9.3% share.

In Hungary, scouring pastes and powders exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-0.8% per year) and Poland (-4.0% per year).
