The Europe seat market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) was the key exporter of seats in Europe, mixing up 60% of total export. France (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 5.1% share, followed by Spain (4.9%). Belgium (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Romania (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +24.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest seat supplying countries in Europe were Poland ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 51% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Denmark, the UK, Romania, France, Belgium, Lithuania, Spain, Sweden and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 34%.

Denmark, with a CAGR of +9.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the sixth year in a row, Europe recorded growth in supplies from abroad of seats, which increased by 32% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +67.4% against 2014 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, seat imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +68.0% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons) and the UK (X tons) represented the major importer of seats in Europe, making up 53% of total import. Italy (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Poland (X tons) and Spain (X tons). All these countries together took near 15% share of total imports. The following importers - Belgium (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Russia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) - together made up 17% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +18.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the UK ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 43% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 41%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +19.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 2.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight decrease. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
