Knitted Ski-Suit Market Size in Europe

The Europe knitted ski-suit market amounted to $X in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. In 2022, overseas shipments of ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles increased by 9.2% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 86% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, knitted ski-suit exports reached $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 49% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany represented the main exporter of ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles in Europe, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was approx. 36% of total exports in 2022. Italy (X units) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (8.5%), Poland (8.3%), Portugal (6.4%) and the Netherlands (5.6%). Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Poland (+12.9%), Italy (+11.3%), France (+9.7%) and the Netherlands (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +12.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Portugal (-1.8%) and Belgium (-5.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Germany (+15 p.p.), Italy (+9.9 p.p.), Poland (+5.6 p.p.), France (+4.8 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Portugal (-1.9 p.p.) and Belgium (-3.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest knitted ski-suit supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 52% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +27.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -8.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+21.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

Knitted ski-suit imports expanded significantly to X units in 2022, increasing by 11% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, knitted ski-suit imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of knitted ski-suit imports in 2022 were Italy (X units), Austria (X units), the UK (X units) and Germany (X units), together reaching 56% of total import. The Netherlands (X units) held a 6.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Denmark (6.5%), France (5.3%) and Poland (4.6%). Romania (X units), Spain (X units), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units) and Belgium (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +25.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles in Europe, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Italy stood at +17.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (-7.2% per year) and the Netherlands (+40.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -11.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 22%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+16.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
