The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 28%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, wood slicing machine exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the five major exporters of splitting, slicing or paring machines, namely Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Italy, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by Denmark (X units), mixing up a 5.6% share of total exports. Austria (X units), Slovenia (X units), France (X units), Sweden (X units), Estonia (X units) and Finland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +16.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest wood slicing machine supplier in Europe, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Finland, with a 13% share.

In Germany, wood slicing machine exports plunged by an average annual rate of -1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Austria (-0.8% per year) and Finland (-3.1% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -2.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per unit), while Denmark ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+15.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, wood slicing machine imports in Europe soared to X units, picking up by 18% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight decline. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wood slicing machine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +77.6% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In 2021, Germany (X units), distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X units), Norway (X units), Italy (X units), the Netherlands (X units), France (X units), the UK (X units) and Finland (X units) were the major importers of splitting, slicing or paring machines, together achieving 70% of total imports. The following importers - Belgium (X units), Russia (X units), Denmark (X units), Sweden (X units) and Poland (X units) - together made up 16% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood slicing machine imports into Germany stood at -6.7%. At the same time, Poland (+14.0%), the Czech Republic (+8.4%), Italy (+6.9%), Russia (+5.0%), Belgium (+5.0%), Norway (+4.1%) and the Netherlands (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +14.0% from 2012-2021. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Denmark (-2.5%), Finland (-5.6%), the UK (-7.9%) and Sweden (-11.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Czech Republic, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland and Belgium increased by +6.1, +3.5, +3.2, +2.3, +1.8 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest wood slicing machine importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), Russia ($X) and France ($X), together accounting for 52% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, France, with a CAGR of +14.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, wood slicing machine import price decreased by -5.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 14%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
