The Europe hand stamp market reduced to $X in 2022, waning by -6.1% against the previous year. Overall, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hand stamp production declined to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 26%. Hand stamp exports contracted to X units in 2022, dropping by -7.4% against 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hand stamp exports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Austria (X units) was the key exporter of stamps for use in the hand, comprising 47% of total exports. The Netherlands (X units) held a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Italy (6.7%), Romania (5.7%), Spain (4.6%) and Germany (4.6%). The Czech Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Austria decreased at an average annual rate of -2.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+79.8%), Spain (+9.4%), Italy (+3.8%) and the Czech Republic (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +79.8% from 2012-2022. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Netherlands (-7.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Romania, Spain and Italy increased by +5.7, +3 and +2.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Austria ($X) remains the largest hand stamp supplier in Europe, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.4% share.
In Austria, hand stamp exports decreased by an average annual rate of -3.7% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+2.6% per year) and Germany (-1.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -5.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 14%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+10.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, the amount of stamps for use in the hand imported in Europe contracted modestly to X units, shrinking by -2.8% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 19%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hand stamp imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of hand stamp imports in 2022 were Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Austria (X units), France (X units), the UK (X units), Poland (X units), Russia (X units), Spain (X units), Italy (X units), Belgium (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Hungary (X units), together reaching 89% of total import.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +14.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest hand stamp importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), France ($X) and Austria ($X), together accounting for 42% of total imports. Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Russia, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +10.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 9.8%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+0.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
