Static Converter Market Size in Europe
In 2021, the Europe static converter market increased by 46% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption posted a remarkable increase. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Static Converter Production in Europe
In value terms, static converter production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Europe
For the fifth year in a row, Europe recorded growth in shipments abroad of static converters, which increased by 19% to X units in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 57%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, static converter exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +94.4% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X units), distantly followed by Germany (X units), Italy (X units), Spain (X units) and Poland (X units) represented the major exporters of static converters, together mixing up 71% of total exports. Hungary (X units), Austria (X units), France (X units), Finland (X units), Denmark (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Sweden (X units) and Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +59.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest static converter supplier in Europe, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 6.2% share.
In Germany, static converter exports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+10.6% per year) and Italy (+5.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 5.5% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Static Converter Imports
Imports in Europe
In 2021, supplies from abroad of static converters increased by 27% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 114%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, static converter imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +106.9% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands was the main importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 34% of total imports. Germany (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Italy (X units), Hungary (X units), France (X units), the UK (X units) and Poland (X units). All these countries together held near 41% share of total imports. Spain (X units), Belgium (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Sweden (X units), Austria (X units) and Denmark (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the static converters imports, with a CAGR of +57.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Denmark (+33.1%), Poland (+31.7%), Sweden (+28.2%), Italy (+24.6%), France (+24.4%), Belgium (+20.1%), the Czech Republic (+20.0%), the UK (+19.3%), Hungary (+14.6%), Austria (+7.5%), Germany (+6.1%) and Spain (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Netherlands, Poland, Italy and France increased by +32, +3.5, +2.8 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 44% of total imports. Italy, the UK, Poland, Spain, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Hungary, Austria, Sweden and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
Among the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +14.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 2.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 24%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
