Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, telephone exports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 9.4% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units), the UK (X units), France (X units), Spain (X units) and Poland (X units) were the major exporters of telephones and videophones, together mixing up 79% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X units), Italy (X units), Sweden (X units), Denmark (X units), Belgium (X units) and Romania (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +32.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest telephone supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and the UK ($X), with a combined 51% share of total exports. France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Romania, Sweden and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +31.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 16%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+9.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, purchases abroad of telephones and videophones was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, telephone imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, France (X units), distantly followed by Germany (X units), the UK (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Spain (X units), Russia (X units) and Italy (X units) were the key importers of telephones and videophones, together making up 76% of total imports. Denmark (X units), Poland (X units), Greece (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +13.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported telephones and videophones in Europe, comprising 30% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 9.6% share.
In France, telephone imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-0.6% per year) and the UK (-3.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 10% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
