In 2022, overseas shipments of test benches decreased by -16.3% to X units, falling for the fourth year in a row after four years of growth. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, test bench exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 14% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X units) was the major exporter of test benches, committing 34% of total exports. Italy (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 14% share, followed by the Czech Republic (10%), Austria (9.9%) and Poland (8.6%). The following exporters - the UK (X units), France (X units), Russia (X units), Spain (X units), Sweden (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) - together made up 17% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to test bench exports from Germany stood at -4.7%. At the same time, Poland (+45.7%), Austria (+3.6%) and Italy (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +45.7% from 2012-2022. The Czech Republic, Russia, France and Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Netherlands (-1.4%), the UK (-2.2%) and Sweden (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+8.4 p.p.), Austria (+3.4 p.p.) and Italy (+3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Germany saw its share reduced by -17.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest test bench supplier in Europe, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 13% share.

In Germany, test bench exports declined by an average annual rate of -5.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (-0.0% per year) and Austria (-0.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -15.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+10.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, the amount of test benches imported in Europe shrank to X units, with a decrease of -7.9% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, test bench imports reduced to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units), distantly followed by Germany (X units), Italy (X units), Belarus (X units), the UK (X units) and France (X units) represented the largest importers of test benches, together generating 70% of total imports. Sweden (X units), Romania (X units), Belgium (X units), Switzerland (X units), Austria (X units) and Slovakia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +23.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 37% share of total imports. France, the UK, Belarus, Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovakia and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 47%.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +19.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
