Spain (X tons), Austria (X tons), Romania (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

At the same time, the Netherlands (+17.8%), Romania (+14.8%), Slovakia (+13.3%), Poland (+12.0%), Hungary (+10.7%), Austria (+5.5%), Sweden (+5.1%) and the Czech Republic (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +17.8% from 2012-2021. Italy and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Belgium (-2.0%) and Spain (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (+6.9 p.p.), Poland (+3.3 p.p.), Germany (+1.8 p.p.) and Romania (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Belgium (-2.7 p.p.), Italy (-3.3 p.p.) and Spain (-5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest technical textiles supplier in Europe, comprising 32% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 9.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 9.2% share.

In Germany, technical textiles exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+11.1% per year) and Italy (+2.7% per year).

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
