The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -11.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

For the third consecutive year, Europe recorded growth in purchases abroad of thiosulphates, which increased by 61% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +77.4% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In terms of the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +88.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -3.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
