For the fifth consecutive year, the Europe metal threading machine market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -2.3% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the three major exporters of threading or tapping machines for working metal, namely Italy, Germany and Spain, represented more than half of total export. Poland (X units), Switzerland (X units), Ireland (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +52.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) emerged as the largest metal threading machine supplier in Europe, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 15% share.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per unit), while Switzerland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+29.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, imports of threading or tapping machines for working metal in Europe surged to X units, jumping by 20% on 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 74% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, metal threading machine imports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Italy (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) represented the key importers of threading or tapping machines for working metal in 2021, resulting at near 18% and 18% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X units), Germany (X units), Russia (X units) and Poland (X units), together comprising a 30% share of total imports. The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -24.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 77% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
