In value terms, titanium exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Russia was the largest exporter of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs in Europe, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 42% of total exports in 2022. Germany (X tons) took a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Italy (11%), Ukraine (6.8%), the UK (6.2%) and the Netherlands (6%). France (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to titanium exports from Russia stood at -4.3%. At the same time, Italy (+12.0%) and the UK (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Italy emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +12.0% from 2012-2022. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-2.2%), the Netherlands (-16.0%) and Ukraine (-20.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Italy, Germany, the UK and France increased by +10, +9.6, +5.9, +3.7 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 64% of total exports.
Italy, with a CAGR of +9.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 23% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+6.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, supplies from abroad of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 23%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, titanium imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the UK (X tons), distantly followed by France (X tons), Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons), Russia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the major importers of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs, together creating 83% of total imports. Estonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +56.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the UK ($X), France ($X) and Italy ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 57% share of total imports. Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic and Estonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +56.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
