The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

For the third consecutive year, Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of tooth brushes, which increased by 11% to X units in 2022. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +54.2% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, tooth brush exports reached $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +59.1% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 16%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Germany represented the main exporter of tooth brushes in Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X units, which was near 46% of total exports in 2022. Switzerland (X units) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Hungary (6.4%) and Ireland (5.1%). The following exporters - the Netherlands (X units), Austria (X units), Belgium (X units), Sweden (X units), Italy (X units), Poland (X units), Spain (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) - together made up 24% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to tooth brush exports from Germany stood at +6.2%. At the same time, Hungary (+29.4%), Austria (+27.7%), the Netherlands (+21.2%), Spain (+13.3%), Poland (+8.4%), Sweden (+6.9%) and Belgium (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +29.4% from 2012-2022. Switzerland and Ireland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-1.1%) and the Czech Republic (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria increased by +5.6, +3.9, +3 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest tooth brush supplier in Europe, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Switzerland ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany amounted to +6.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Switzerland (+3.1% per year) and the Netherlands (+20.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, falling by -7.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Austria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Tooth Brush Imports

Imports in Europe

For the fourth year in a row, Europe recorded growth in purchases abroad of tooth brushes, which increased by 21% to X units in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.5% against 2017 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, tooth brush imports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +83.5% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Germany was the major importer of tooth brushes in Europe, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. 25% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the UK (X units), Russia (X units), Hungary (X units), France (X units) and Poland (X units), together mixing up a 34% share of total imports. The Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units), Spain (X units), Belgium (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Austria (X units) and Portugal (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to tooth brush imports into Germany stood at +8.9%. At the same time, Hungary (+26.9%), Portugal (+16.7%), the Netherlands (+11.2%), Austria (+8.5%), Poland (+7.5%), Belgium (+5.9%), Spain (+5.1%), the UK (+3.9%), the Czech Republic (+3.5%), Italy (+3.1%) and France (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +26.9% from 2012-2022. Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands increased by +5.4, +5.1 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -13.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped in the following year.
