In 2021, shipments abroad of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber increased by 13% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, rubber tube and pipe exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) represented roughly 59% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Spain (X tons), comprising a 4.7% share of total exports. Bulgaria (X tons), Russia (X tons), Austria (X tons), Belgium (X tons), France (X tons), Romania (X tons), the UK (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +13.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest rubber tube and pipe supplier in Europe, comprising 25% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-0.2% per year) and Poland (+10.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 2.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 3.1%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber increased by 21% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, rubber tube and pipe imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by France (X tons), Russia (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), the UK (X tons), Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main importers of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber, together achieving 77% of total imports. Sweden (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Romania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to rubber tube and pipe imports into Germany stood at +3.4%. At the same time, Poland (+9.7%), Italy (+5.5%), France (+4.0%), Belgium (+3.4%), Russia (+2.5%) and Austria (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +9.7% from 2012-2021. Romania, the Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Poland (+3.3 p.p.) and Italy (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Spain, the Netherlands and the UK saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -1.8% and -2.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber in Europe, comprising 20% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with an 8.2% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 7% share.
In Germany, rubber tube and pipe imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+1.9% per year) and the UK (-2.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 6.4% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
