In 2021, shipments abroad of turbo-jets of a thrust exceeding X kn was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -3.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 34%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2021, the UK (X units), distantly followed by France (X units), Russia (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Germany (X units) and Ireland (X units) were the key exporters of turbo-jets of a thrust exceeding X kn, together constituting 88% of total exports. Poland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +20.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest turbo-jet (over X kn) supplying countries in Europe were the UK ($X), France ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 76% share of total exports. Germany, Ireland, Poland and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +49.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, turbo-jet (over X kn) export price decreased by -15.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Europe
In 2021, supplies from abroad of turbo-jets of a thrust exceeding X kn decreased by -83% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 381% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, turbo-jet (over X kn) imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -17.4% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 69%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The UK was the key importer of turbo-jets of a thrust exceeding X kn in Europe, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 31% of total imports in 2021. France (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Russia (X units). All these countries together held near 40% share of total imports. Ireland (X units), Italy (X units), Luxembourg (X units), Belgium (X units), Greece (X units), Spain (X units) and Poland (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to turbo-jet (over X kn) imports into the UK stood at +3.3%. At the same time, Luxembourg (+58.4%), Greece (+55.4%), the Netherlands (+24.4%), Italy (+18.6%), Poland (+17.5%), Ireland (+9.0%) and Russia (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Luxembourg emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +58.4% from 2012-2021. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Spain (-2.2%), Belgium (-6.4%) and Germany (-7.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (+5.9 p.p.), the UK (+4.8 p.p.), Italy (+3 p.p.), Luxembourg (+2.8 p.p.), Greece (+2.5 p.p.), Ireland (+2.1 p.p.), Poland (+1.7 p.p.) and Russia (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belgium (-3 p.p.) and Germany (-17.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest turbo-jet (over X kn) importing markets in Europe were the UK ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 69% of total imports. These countries were followed by Ireland, Poland, Russia, the Netherlands, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium and Greece, which together accounted for a further 26%.
Among the main importing countries, Greece, with a CAGR of +59.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, surging by 590% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded moderate growth. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
