In general, exports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 193%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced notably in the following year.

In value terms, turbo-jet (under X kN) exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 91% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2022, the UK (X units) was the main exporter of turbo-jets of a thrust not exceeding X kN, achieving 67% of total exports. Germany (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Ukraine (X units) and Spain (X units). All these countries together held near 22% share of total exports. The following exporters - Norway (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) - together made up 7.1% of total exports.

Exports from the UK increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Norway (+52.6%), Spain (+46.7%), the Czech Republic (+16.1%), Ukraine (+15.7%) and Germany (+4.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Norway emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +52.6% from 2012-2022. Spain (+5.4 p.p.), the UK (+5.1 p.p.), Norway (+3.6 p.p.), Ukraine (+3 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Germany saw its share reduced by -3.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, the UK ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Germany ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 75% share of total exports. The Czech Republic, Spain and Norway lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Norway, with a CAGR of +29.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 146%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per unit), while Norway ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (-1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, approx. X units of turbo-jets of a thrust not exceeding X kN were imported in Europe; which is down by -44.3% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 445% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, turbo-jet (under X kN) imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 77%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the UK (X units) represented the main importer of turbo-jets of a thrust not exceeding X kN, committing 60% of total imports. Norway (X units) held a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (8.2%) and Spain (7.3%).

Imports into the UK increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Norway (+85.7%) and the Netherlands (+39.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Norway emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +85.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Spain (-3.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the UK ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported turbo-jets of a thrust not exceeding X kN in Europe, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 5% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 4.3% share.

In the UK, turbo-jet (under X kN) imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+17.1% per year) and Spain (+11.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 74% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible reduction.
