In value terms, umbrella production rose sharply to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the production volume increased by 24% against the previous year. The level of production peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports in Europe
In 2022, umbrella exports in Europe skyrocketed to X units, with an increase of 28% on 2021 figures. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +77.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 39%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, umbrella exports contracted to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +27.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 35%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
Greece was the key exporter of umbrellas in Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X units, which was approx. 34% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units), Germany (X units), Belarus (X units) and Poland (X units), together mixing up a 42% share of total exports. Spain (X units), Austria (X units), Italy (X units) and France (X units) held a little share of total exports.
Greece was also the fastest-growing in terms of the umbrellas exports, with a CAGR of +60.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+15.8%), Poland (+11.9%), the Netherlands (+7.4%), France (+4.4%), Spain (+2.9%) and Austria (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Greece, Belarus and Poland increased by +33, +4.9 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest umbrella supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Austria ($X), together comprising 41% of total exports. Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Greece and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Greece, with a CAGR of +36.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -26.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 26%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, supplies from abroad of umbrellas increased by 29% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, umbrella imports amounted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Greece (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main importers of umbrellas in 2022, reaching approx. 18% and 16% of total imports, respectively. Italy (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Spain (X units), France (X units), the Netherlands (X units), the UK (X units) and Russia (X units). All these countries together held near 40% share of total imports. The following importers - Poland (X units), Austria (X units), Belarus (X units), Hungary (X units) and Portugal (X units) - together made up 12% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +33.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest umbrella importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the UK ($X), together accounting for 41% of total imports. Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Poland, Greece, Portugal, Russia, Hungary and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, umbrella import price increased by +43.9% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+9.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
