Vacuum Pump Market Size in Europe

In 2022, the Europe vacuum pump market increased by 7.3% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, vacuum pump production rose significantly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Europe

Vacuum pump exports soared to X units in 2022, growing by 19% against the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, vacuum pump exports amounted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 21%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Germany was the key exporter of vacuum pumps in Europe, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 40% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Italy (X units), France (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Hungary (X units), together creating a 44% share of total exports. The following exporters - Belgium (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) - each recorded a 5.8% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to vacuum pump exports from Germany stood at +1.3%. At the same time, Bulgaria (+73.7%), Belgium (+25.2%), the Czech Republic (+25.0%), Hungary (+17.6%) and the Netherlands (+14.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +73.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Italy (-1.0%) and France (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Czech Republic (+6.5 p.p.), the Netherlands (+4.1 p.p.), Hungary (+3.7 p.p.), Belgium (+2.7 p.p.) and Bulgaria (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Italy and France saw its share reduced by -5.1% and -10.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest vacuum pump supplier in Europe, comprising 40% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany stood at +1.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+0.3% per year) and France (+0.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -15.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, the amount of vacuum pumps imported in Europe reduced to X units, shrinking by -13.7% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.0% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 33%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, vacuum pump imports stood at $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) represented the largest importers of vacuum pumps in 2022, accounting for near 21% and 14% of total imports, respectively. The UK (X units) took a 9.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by France (7.4%), Poland (6.9%) and Hungary (6.3%). The Netherlands (X units), Spain (X units), Belgium (X units), Austria (X units), Slovakia (X units), Russia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +16.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vacuum pumps in Europe, comprising 21% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 7.9% share.

In Germany, vacuum pump imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+5.3% per year) and France (+0.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 18% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
