Germany was the major exporter of vapour generating boilers in Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 38% of total exports in 2021. Italy (X tons) held a 23% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Russia (9.7%). From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Russia (with a CAGR of +17.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest vapour generating boiler supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), Russia ($X) and Italy ($X), together accounting for 72% of total exports.
Russia, with a CAGR of +36.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In 2021, imports of vapour generating boilers in Europe contracted to X tons, which is down by -11.9% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vapour generating boiler imports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of vapour generating boiler imports in 2021 were Russia (X tons), France (X tons), the UK (X tons), Spain (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Romania (X tons), together amounting to 59% of total import. Italy (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Germany (X tons), Norway (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +40.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Russia ($X) and the UK ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 32% share of total imports. Spain, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary, Norway and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.
Slovakia, with a CAGR of +33.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+6.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
