In value terms, women knitwear exports reduced to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +79.6% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then declined slightly in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by Spain (X units), Poland (X units), the Netherlands (X units), France (X units), Italy (X units) and Austria (X units) were the key exporters of women's or girls' clothing (knitted or crocheted), together committing 75% of total exports. Slovakia (X units), Denmark (X units), Greece (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Portugal (X units) and Belgium (X units) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +32.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest women knitwear supplier in Europe, comprising 25% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with an 11% share.

Russia (X units), Austria (X units), Sweden (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Denmark (X units) and Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
