Russia (X cubic meters), Belarus (X cubic meters) and Latvia (X cubic meters) represented roughly 57% of total exports in 2022. Germany (X cubic meters) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 9.8% share, followed by Slovenia (6.5%). The following exporters - Estonia (X cubic meters), Belgium (X cubic meters), Norway (X cubic meters), Sweden (X cubic meters), France (X cubic meters), Spain (X cubic meters), the Czech Republic (X cubic meters) and Austria (X cubic meters) - together made up 18% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +19.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Latvia ($X), Russia ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 44% share of total exports. Belarus, France, Slovenia, Estonia, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, the Czech Republic, Norway and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +16.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Europe stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, rising by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per cubic meter), while Belarus ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, Denmark (X cubic meters), Sweden (X cubic meters), Finland (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters), Portugal (X cubic meters) and Austria (X cubic meters) was the largest importer of wood chips and particles in Europe, generating 66% of total import. It was distantly followed by Italy (X cubic meters), France (X cubic meters) and Belgium (X cubic meters), together creating a 15% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +24.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wood chips and particles importing markets in Europe were Portugal ($X), Denmark ($X) and Finland ($X), together comprising 41% of total imports. Sweden, Austria, France, Poland, Belgium and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($X per cubic meter), while Poland ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
