Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture exports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 22%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany was the key exporter of wooden furniture for kitchens in Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X units, which was near 41% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Italy (X units), Spain (X units) and Poland (X units), together creating a 33% share of total exports. The following exporters - Denmark (X units), the UK (X units), Portugal (X units), Sweden (X units), France (X units) and Belarus (X units) - together made up 15% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to wooden kitchen furniture exports from Germany stood at -5.2%. At the same time, Poland (+13.2%), the UK (+11.1%), Portugal (+10.2%) and Spain (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-3.1%), Denmark (-4.6%), Italy (-6.5%), France (-7.7%) and Sweden (-8.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+6.9 p.p.), Spain (+5.3 p.p.), the UK (+2.7 p.p.) and Portugal (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Italy and Germany saw its share reduced by -6.1% and -9.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest wooden kitchen furniture supplier in Europe, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 5.9% share.

In Germany, wooden kitchen furniture exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+3.4% per year) and Denmark (+5.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a buoyant expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per unit), while the UK ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+10.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X units of wooden furniture for kitchens were imported in Europe; surging by 2.8% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.6% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.9% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 22%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

France (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) represented the major importers of wooden furniture for kitchens in 2022, reaching near 18% and 16% of total imports, respectively. Norway (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Switzerland (X units), the UK (X units) and Austria (X units). All these countries together took approx. 32% share of total imports. In value terms, France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Switzerland ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 43% share of total imports.

The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +12.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Spain ($X per unit) and Austria ($X per unit), while Norway ($X per unit) and the UK ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (-0.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
