The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
France (X tons) and the UK (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together constituting 73% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tons), committing an 8.2% share of total imports. The following importers - Ireland (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - together made up 9.9% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +5.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), the UK ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 79% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, the UK, with a CAGR of +5.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%.
