From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +36.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 4.8% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, approx. X tons of woven pile fabrics and chenille fabrics were imported in Europe; growing by 16% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, pile and chenille fabric imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The UK (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented roughly 45% of total imports in 2021. Italy (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7% share, followed by Germany (5.8%), Russia (5.5%), Belgium (5.4%) and France (5%). The following importers - Spain (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Romania (X tons) - together made up 16% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +3.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the UK ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported woven pile fabrics and chenille fabrics in Europe, comprising 28% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 8.8% share.

In the UK, pile and chenille fabric imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (-0.4% per year) and Italy (-0.6% per year).
