X-Ray Generator Market Size in Europe

In 2021, the Europe x-ray generator market decreased by -0.3% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2020, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +12.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest x-ray generator supplier in Europe, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (-3.1% per year) and the Netherlands (-1.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 13% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, overseas purchases of x-ray generators increased by 1.8% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 23%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray generator imports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by France (X tons), the UK (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the largest importers of x-ray generators, together making up 73% of total imports. Russia (X tons), Spain (X tons), Finland (X tons), Italy (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Poland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +8.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 54% of total imports. The UK, Italy, Belgium, Russia, Spain, Finland and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +8.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 10%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
