The Netherlands (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) were the main destinations of machinery electrical parts exports from Finland, with a combined 60% share of total exports. Germany, China, Latvia, the UK and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Latvia (with a CAGR of +132.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Finland
After five years of growth, supplies from abroad of electrical parts of machinery or apparatus decreased by -17.9% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.
In value terms, machinery electrical parts imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of machinery electrical parts to Finland, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, machinery electrical parts imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Estonia (X tons), fourfold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +18.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Estonia (+63.9% per year) and Belgium (+31.5% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
