Overall, exports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 131% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X litres in 2021, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk exports reached $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 107% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Sweden (X litres) was the main destination for non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk exports from Finland, accounting for a 58% share of total exports. Moreover, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk exports to Sweden exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Estonia (X litres), threefold. China (X litres) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Sweden amounted to +28.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Estonia (+11.2% per year) and China (+123.7% per year).
In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk exports from Finland, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Estonia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Sweden stood at +28.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Estonia (+14.3% per year) and China (+90.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk amounted to $X per litre, increasing by 28% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, purchases abroad of non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk decreased by -16.2% to X litres for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 41%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X litres, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk imports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +90.5% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Sweden (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk to Finland, with a 34% share of total imports. Moreover, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk imports from Sweden exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X litres), threefold. Germany (X litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Sweden stood at +19.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+12.6% per year) and Germany (+0.8% per year).
In value terms, Sweden ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk to Finland, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Sweden amounted to +12.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+2.4% per year) and Germany (+1.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk amounted to $X per litre, with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per litre), while the price for Poland ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
