In value terms, the largest markets for rice bran exported from Finland were France ($X), Sweden ($X) and Portugal ($X), together accounting for 52% of total exports. Japan, the Netherlands, Italy, Russia, Germany and Estonia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +68.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, rice bran imports fell notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a sharp decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Estonia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of rice bran to Finland, with a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, rice bran imports from Estonia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (X tons), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Estonia stood at -16.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (-3.6% per year) and Denmark (-56.3% per year).
In value terms, Sweden ($X), Estonia ($X) and Denmark ($X) appeared to be the largest rice bran suppliers to Finland, together comprising 96% of total imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the price for Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+58.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
