Over the period under review, total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +48.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, cellulose fibrecement sheet exports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Sweden (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) were the main destinations of cellulose fibrecement sheet exports from Finland, together comprising 72% of total exports. Norway, Hungary, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, the UK and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

In 2022, imports of sheets, panels and tiles of cellulose fibrecement into Finland fell notably to X tons, dropping by -24.5% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 700% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cellulose fibrecement sheet imports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 361%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
