The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, synthetic rubber (excluding latex) imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest synthetic rubber (excluding latex) supplier to Finland, with a 35% share of total imports. Moreover, synthetic rubber (excluding latex) imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X tons), with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia stood at +2.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.0% per year) and Poland (+4.2% per year).
In value terms, the largest synthetic rubber (excluding latex) suppliers to Finland were Russia ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 52% of total imports. Japan, Spain, Belgium, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, the Czech Republic, France, the United States and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
Japan, with a CAGR of +10.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 31% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
