In 2021, supplies from abroad of non-mineral or non-aerated waters decreased by -27.6% to X litres, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 605% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 370%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Japan (X litres), Sweden (X litres) and Estonia (X litres) were the main suppliers of non-mineral or non-aerated water imports to Finland, with a combined 77% share of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Poland, Norway, China, the Netherlands, Denmark and Russia, which together accounted for a further 14%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +48.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), Sweden ($X) and France ($X) were the largest non-mineral or non-aerated water suppliers to Finland, with a combined 64% share of total imports.
