Agricultural Appliance Market Size in France

In 2021, the French agricultural appliance market decreased by -12.8% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption saw a noticeable slump. Agricultural appliance consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, agricultural appliance production soared to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports from France

Agricultural appliance exports from France soared to X units in 2021, growing by 46% on the year before. Overall, total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, agricultural appliance exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +93.6% against 2017 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Spain (X units), Romania (X units) and Ukraine (X units) were the main destinations of agricultural appliance exports from France, with a combined 36% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Algeria, Australia, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Senegal, Turkey, Zimbabwe and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 45%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Zimbabwe (with a CAGR of +59.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X) remains the key foreign market for agricultural appliances exports from France, comprising 20% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 9.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 7.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Spain totaled +5.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+21.1% per year) and Italy (+1.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average agricultural appliance export price amounted to $X per unit, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 19%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into France

In 2021, supplies from abroad of agricultural appliances increased by 22% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 570% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, agricultural appliance imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Italy (X units) constituted the largest supplier of agricultural appliance to France, accounting for a 34% share of total imports. Moreover, agricultural appliance imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), twofold. Mexico (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Italy stood at +40.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+14.1% per year) and Mexico (+30.9% per year).

In value terms, the largest agricultural appliance suppliers to France were Italy ($X), Mexico ($X) and China ($X), together comprising 58% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, the United States, Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 31%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Turkey, with a CAGR of +60.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average agricultural appliance import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 89% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
