In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, orthopedic prosthetics imports fell to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 18%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

The Netherlands (X units), the United States (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of orthopedic prosthetics imports to France, together comprising 78% of total imports. Belgium, the UK, Mauritius, Ireland and Costa Rica lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
