Turkey (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of carbon electrode exports from France, together comprising 26% of total exports. Algeria, the United States, Germany, South Africa, India, South Korea, Bahrain, Japan, Kazakhstan and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 48%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 68%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, approx. X tons of carbon electrodes were imported into France; with a decrease of -4.6% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, posted a notable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 180% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, carbon electrode imports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 181% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
