The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Italy (X square meters) was the main destination for ceramic tile exports from France, accounting for a 25% share of total exports. Moreover, ceramic tile exports to Italy exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Switzerland (X square meters), threefold. Belgium (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Italy amounted to +4.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Switzerland (-6.2% per year) and Belgium (-11.8% per year).

These countries were followed by Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Cote d'Ivoire, Madagascar, French Polynesia and Senegal, which together accounted for a further 32%.
Among the main countries of destination, Turkey, with a CAGR of +38.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average ceramic tile export price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, growing by 32% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.4%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Madagascar ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Senegal (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of ceramic tiles decreased by -16.8% to X square meters for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X square meters, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, ceramic tile imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Spain (X square meters), Italy (X square meters) and Portugal (X square meters) were the main suppliers of ceramic tile imports to France, with a combined 85% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +7.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X), Spain ($X) and Portugal ($X) were the largest ceramic tile suppliers to France, with a combined 87% share of total imports. Turkey, Germany and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.5%.
