Japan (X tons) was the main destination for meat and fish extracts exports from France, with a 54% share of total exports. In 2021, overseas purchases of extracts and juices of meat, fish, crustaceans and molluscs decreased by -22.3% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports recorded a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 14%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, meat and fish extracts imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 15%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of meat and fish extracts to France, with a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, meat and fish extracts imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Belgium (X tons), with a 5.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Italy was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (-7.0% per year) and Belgium (-3.6% per year).
