Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of glass fibre filament exports from France, with a combined 56% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Slovakia and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 35%.

In 2021, the average glass fibre filament export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 40%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into France
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of glass fibre filaments increased by 11% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, glass fibre filament imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest glass fibre filament supplier to France, accounting for a 43% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibre filament imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), threefold. Slovakia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.

In terms of the main suppliers, Bahrain, with a CAGR of +97.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average glass fibre filament import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
