Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of refined or synthetic glycerol exports from France, with a combined 70% share of total exports. Spain, Poland, Portugal and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +63.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest markets for refined or synthetic glycerol exported from France were Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X), together comprising 59% of total exports. Belgium, the UK, Portugal and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Refined or Synthetic Glycerol
Imports into France
For the third consecutive year, France recorded growth in supplies from abroad of refined or synthetic glycerol, which increased by 5% to X tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +24.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 24%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, refined or synthetic glycerol imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of refined or synthetic glycerol imports to France, together comprising 85% of total imports. Italy, Indonesia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 11%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +34.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
