In 2022, overseas purchases of gym and fitness equipment decreased by -46.5% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, gym and fitness equipment imports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a notable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest gym and fitness equipment supplier to France, with a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, gym and fitness equipment imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belgium (X tons), with an 18% share.
